You can improve your skills of film analysis by gaining familiarity with the craft of media production. This sharpens your perception and broadens your awareness of how films and other audiovisual works are created with specific aims in mind. On the other hand, if you are a filmmaker or video artist, you can improve your creativity by gaining knowledge of film history, theory, and groundbreaking expressive traditions.

We encourage you to combine scholarly and creative work in your undergraduate course of study. Artistic and critical intelligence should go hand in hand.

At UNC-Chapel Hill, students who wish to take courses in media production can do so through many different routes. However, restrictions may apply depending on your major and whether classes have prerequisites. Soon we will post a guide to production offerings in particular departments, as well as to opportunities in media production through study abroad programs and other avenues.
